Don Williams
Tasmanian Black Acacia
Small Jumbo Guitar
Here are a few pictures of a recent guitar I finished. This guitar was commissioned by Joseph Allen. The scale is 25.4", the nut is 1.75", and the string spacing at the saddle is 2.25".
This guitar has an amazingly stiff Sitka Spruce top, laden with silk end to end. The back and sides are fantastically flamed Tasmanian Black Acacia, aka Tasmanian Blackwood. The back and sides are almost irridescent, sporting a rainbow of colors. The bridge and fretboard are Maccassar ebony. The body and fretboard are bound in Gabon Ebony.
