The Original, One and Only Smiley-Uke™
The idea for the Smiley-Uke™came to me as I was preparing to make a very serious, traditional ukelele for an upcoming meeting of the New England Luthiers Group. My plans were thwarted. While chatting on MS Internet Messenger with a fellow luthier, I was noticing the smiley icons and thought, " wouldn't that make a Cool Uke!". The idea was born.
Here are the specifics of the prototype for the Smiley-Uke™:
Basic Model:
- Concert Scale (15")
- Yellowheart top and headstock veneer
- Mahogany back and sides
- Ebony "Smile" bridge and fretboard
- Mahogany neck.
- Chrome Gotoh tuners.
